ACCESS-ESM1.6 Experiments

The table below lists published experiments, on Gadi, available for analysis and as the start point for perturbation experiments.

This data, and the configurations they are based on, are licensed by CC-by-4.0 and therefore can be freely shared, distributed and modified. Guidelines for acknowledgement are in Conditions of Use.

Data in these experiments is in the model's native format and meets the ACCESS Data Output Specification. For data meeting the CMIP7 specification, please use an ESGF node.

Experiments can be found in the access-nri-intake catalog by their experiment name.

Experiments for Supported Configurations

Note

The piControl and esm-piControl experiments below were produced using slightly earlier configurations than the first announced release, due to ongoing testing and developments. For ease of use, we have released the configurations release-piControl-2.0 and release-esm-piControl-2.0, which start from calendar year 101. These configurations will reproduce the datasets provided which also start from year 101, with the exception of some diagnostic differences23.

The datasets below use the "core" and "high" diagnostic profiles to meet the requirements for CMIP7 data output. This produces more data than the default diagnostic profiles. See edit the models configurations for details on changing the profiles.

  1. Increments to minor versions of configurations produce prognostically bitwise identical output. e.g. Versions 1.1 and 1.2 of a configuration create the same model state, but version 2 would be different. There may be diagnostic differences between minor versions. 

  2. release-piControl-2.0 configuration is prognostically identical to archive-piControl-2026.04.07. However, the ocean age diagnostic tracer is incorrect in this dataset, and corrected in release-piControl-1.0. These is also a difference in diagnostic CO2 flux and CO2 atmospheric tracer variables (fld_s03i101 and fld_s33i002) due to a bug fix in the CO2 fluxes which was fixed in release-piControl-1.0. This does not impact any of the other output variables. 

  3. release-esm-piControl-2.0 configuration is prognostically identical to release-esm-piControl-1.0 except it starts from calendar year 101. However, the ocean age diagnostic tracer is incorrect in this dataset, and corrected in release-esm-piControl-2.0
